Paediatric physiotherapists work with babies, children and young people to:
- Promote optimal developmental progress and movement acquisition
- Maximise physical function
- Assist with recovery after surgery
- Prescribe exercises to improve fitness and strength
- Educate people about their child’s conditions and child development
- Promote healthy lifestyles
They work with a variety of conditions affecting the:
- Musculoskeletal system (the bones, joints and muscles)
- Cardio respiratory system (the lungs and breathing)
- Neurological system (the brain, spinal cord and nerves)
- Development and co-ordination
